You have probably heard about water4gas many times by now, and that's why you ended up on this page. The sole purpose of this page is to show you the SCIENCE behind water4gas.

Water4gas is hydrogen power?

Well here's a hint, the SCIENCE behind water4gas involves hydrogen. This hydrogen is produced from water. But you probably knew that as well. So our purpose is to go deeper into the water4gas science.

Water (2H₂O) = Hydrogen (H₂) + Oxygen (O₂)

Is hydrogen power a scam?

Definitely not, and nobody would/should argue with that. See the box below.

Yes hydrogen has given 1668.3 MPG in experimental cars. Hydrogen is a potent energy source while being extremely eco-friendly, therefore is expected to replace all fossil fuels (i.e. gasoline and diesel) in the future. Have no doubt about the ability of hydrogen, although you are still entitled to doubt water for gas (read on to see if the 4.5 million dollars/year business, water4gas, really is a scam or not)

How is hydrogen produced?

In large scale hydrogen generation plants such as those used by Honda of California, energy from solar power is used to breakdown water. This hydrogen is stored in special tanks in hydrogen fuelling stations and pumped into hydrogen cars. (The US Air Force also did the research)

But you don't see hydrogen cars everywhere you go, do you? NOPE and for a reason. Yes there are a few limitations to this technology

Limitations of the present hydrogen technology

Every good thing in this world also has a bad side!

	Hydrogen cars are extremely costly, as much as $150,000
	Conversion of gasoline cars to hydrogen is possible, but expensive (upto $60,000) and can only be done by a professional because it involves installation of a hydrogen storage tank and a complete pipe system for hydrogen delivery
	H₂ fuel stations are limited to certain localities (California, Florida etc.)
	Solar powered electrolysers are expensive to set up, therefore hydrogen fuel costs $20/Kg. That's more expensive than gas

Water4gas - role of hydrogen in the water for gas system

In the water4gas system, instead of solar power, the electric current from the car's own battery is used to produce hydrogen from water.

The physico-chemical process of breaking down water with an electric current is known as ELECTRO-LYSIS (lysis by an electric current). The special gadget in which electrolysis takes place is called an ELECTROLYSER. Because hydrogen is produced onboard the car, as and when required, there is no need for hydrogen fuelling stations. The gas coming out of the electrolyser (containing high amounts of H₂) is directed to the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) of any gasoline or diesel vehicle (car/van/SUV/truck). And this hydrogen obviously burns together with the gasoline inside the engine.

Because of the very simple structure of H₂, compared to gasoline (that is Iso-octane = C₈H₁₈), hydrogen spontaneously burns together with gasoline/diesel increasing MPG by ~ 40%. This is known as HEC or Hydrogen Enhanced Combustion. And this is exactly what happens with the water4gas sysytem

Work being done by ArvinMeritor, IAV (Ingenieursgesellshaft für Auto und Verkehr) and MIT on enhancing gasoline combustion

Their research showed that enriching the air-fuel mixture with hydrogen increased gasoline fuel economy by 20-30%
The 20-30% increase was a combined result of :
•    Reduced pumping losses (~5-10% efficiency gain)
•    Improved thermodynamics (~10-12% efficiency gain)
•    Reduced friction (downsizing) (~5-8% efficiency gain)"

Their research institute produces something called a PLASMATRON FUEL REFORMER. It is more complicated than the water4gas electrolyzer, but it's job is to enrich the gasoline engine with hydrogen
